Schedule Invisalign Consultations

For adults, Invisalign aligners provide some of the best orthodontic solutions that are non-disruptive to your daily schedules. Our patients will often tell us that some of the barriers to getting orthodontic treatments stem from some of the key drawbacks of traditional metal braces. Whether there are concerns about all the different appointments that are necessary for tightening/maintaining braces, or patients simply do not like how metal braces look, we understand. That is why we consistently recommend Invisalign clear aligners for our patients.

What ARe Invisalign ALigners/Braces?

How Does Invisalign Work?

Traditional metal braces work by bonding metal brackets to your teeth and connecting those brackets with tightened metal wires. These wires pull teeth towards alignment. By contrast, Invisalign works by creating clear aligners that can be worn over the teeth. Each set of aligners is designed to help move the teeth over time. Over the course of a treatment period a patient will replace one set of aligners for the next set. Invisalign aligners need to be worn for at least 22 hours every day, but they can be removed. People can remove their aligners to eat, brush/floss their teeth, or even remove them quickly before taking a photo. That said, it is imperative that aligners are worn for 22 hours every day in order for patients to see results from their treatment.

What Problems Can Invisalign Solve?

Some of the most common orthodontic issues for patients are issues with bite alignment. Not only can bite alignment look noticeable, but it can also lead to a variety of issues including jaw pain and TMJ. An overbite occurs when the top teeth sit too far in front of the bottom teeth. An underbite occurs when the bottom teeth sit in front of the top teeth. A crossbite occurs when there are alignment issues for both the top and bottom teeth. Invisalign can help shift the teeth so they are more properly aligned.

In may cases, a tooth can appear twisted or be at a strange angle. Teeth can also crowd and sit in front of one another. When teeth are crowded or at different angles it can make it difficult to floss and brush effectively. This can increase the risk of gum disease and dental decay in that area. Invisalign can help realign teeth and fix issues with crowding.

While many gaps are cosmetic issues they can also sometimes cause functional problems for your bite alignment or your teeth in general. Gaps or spaces between teeth can also make it easier for food to get stuck in-between teeth leading to tooth decay and gum disease. Invisalign and help pull teeth together.

Invisalign braces are best used to make small adjustments to the alignment of a patient’s teeth. For more complex orthodontic solutions your dentist or orthodontist will likely recommend traditional metal braces.

How Do I Know If Invisalign Is Right For Me

Invisalign is best for patients who need to make minor to moderate changes to the alignment of their teeth. More importantly, Invisalign requires compliance with daily routines. The most common reason Invisalign treatments get delayed or outright fail is because patients do not wear their aligners for the required 22 hours per day. It is important to understand that responsibility going into the treatment, otherwise you might end up wasting time. But if you are wondering if Invisalign aligners are right for you or someone you know, we would highly encourage you to set up an appointment. A quick consultation with some initial measurements can help determine the best orthodontic treatment for a patient.
