Tooth-Colored Dental Fillings
There are a few options when it comes to getting a dental filling. In the past, the most common materials for fillings included metals that did not blend well into a patient’s smile. Luckily modern dental fillings made with composite materials are designed for both durability and cosmetic appeal.Â

What Should You Do If A Filling Falls Out?
Fillings are durable but not indestructible. Fillings can break if they are put under too much pressure. However, what is even more common is for fillings to loosen and fall out. At the place where the filling meets your natural tooth there is going to be a small fissure or border. Bacteria can get into this border and erode your tooth around the filling, which can lead to your filling falling out or getting loose. Another common symptom is a “leaking filling” where liquid gets between the filling and the tooth. When the tooth erodes around your filling, you need to schedule a dental visit right away. If the filling is damaged or loose, it might need to be replaced. If the filling has fully fallen out you should avoid chewing on that tooth and also disinfect your mouth to prevent bacteria from getting deep inside the tooth. You should avoid foods that are hard or sticky as they can damage your weakened tooth.Â
