Dental Implant Consultations in Peabody, Newburyport, or Winthrop
If you have lost an adult tooth or multiple teeth, you have options. Dental implants are a long-lasting tooth replacement treatment. Many patients choose implants because they more accurately mimic the form, function, and look of natural teeth. Here at Varinos Dental Associates, our offices provide adult tooth replacement treatments, and help patients choose the right treatment plan for their unique dental issues. For example, patients who have lost all or the majority of their teeth can benefit greatly from implant-supported dentures like Hybridge Dental Implants.
Our team handles every step of the dental implant process at our offices from the initial consultation and measurements to oral surgery. Instead of needing to be referred to other practices, our offices provide comprehensive care.

What Is The Process Of Getting A Dental Implant?
The dental implant process takes time. First, you will need to have an exam with X-rays and scans done of your mouth. These scans are done to ensure that your jawbone is dense enough to support a dental implant. If there is an issue with bone density you may need additional treatment or might not be able to get a dental implant.
Unless you need prior treatments like jawbone preparation or damaged tooth removal the next step in your dental implant process will be the initial surgery. During the surgery the implant is placed underneath your gums and is attached to the jawbone. A partial denture will be placed in the tooth gap while the bone and implant fuse together.
Over the course of several months, your jawbone will grow around the metal implant in a process called osseointegration. Once the process is complete you will be ready to get your new tooth. You will return to the dentist and have impressions taken of your remaining teeth. These will be used to create a false tooth that looks and functions like the surrounding teeth.
Once your new false tooth has been manufactured you will have a final dental appointment to have that tooth attached to the dental implant. The most common type of dental implant is a fixed implant that cannot be removed. These implants are designed to last for years and are an extremely effective solution. Dental implants also have a high success rate.
How Do Dental Implants Compare To Dental Bridges?
Dental implants provide many benefits when compared to dental bridges. A dental bridge involves putting a false tooth between two natural healthy teeth. The healthy teeth are used as anchors for the bridge usually by using dental crowns. Because of how the are structured, dental bridges do not tend to last as long as dental implants. Moreover, they do not function the same way a natural tooth would. A bridge only replaces the visible part of the tooth. A dental implant replaces the entire structure of a lost tooth. Dental bridges can also increase the vulnerability of the healthy teeth to bacteria and decay because of the use of dental crowns. That said, there are cases where a dental bridge might be the better option. If a patient does not have the bone density necessary for an implant a bridge might be the best choice. Common Questions About Dental Implants
How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Massachusetts?
Implant pricing varies significantly from patient to patient. Your best bet is to discuss your particular needs with an implant provider. Some of the reasons implant pricing varies so much are the type of implant you need, if other treatments are necessary before you can get an implant (tooth removal, jawbone restoration, etc), and how many teeth you need to replace. That said, it can also be helpful to discuss payment options with your dentist. In many cases, dental insurance plans do not cover dental implants or only provide partial coverage. That said, many dental practices work with third-party financing companies and might have internal payment options, including dental specials.
How Long Does It Take To Get Dental Implants?
There are a few different implant timelines. Typically, the first step in any dental implant process is an initial consultation. During this appointment, your dentist will need to get X-rays and/or other dental scans. They will use these measurements to determine a tailored treatment plan. Some patients require treatments like tooth removal or jawbone restoration prior to receiving their dental implant. These procedures can greatly impact the timeline for dental implants.
What are “Teeth-In-A-Day” or Same-Day Implants?
You may see dental practices advertising “teeth-in-a-day” or same-day dental implants. This refers to a variety of dental implant treatments that place a temporary, functional tooth on the implant immediately after the initial surgery. These temporary teeth allow patients limited functionality while the implants heal and become integrated with the jawbone. Many patients prefer these treatments because they improve the aesthetic of their smile. That said, those implants are temporary and are later replaced with a final set of teeth that are designed to withstand more force.
Are Dental Implants Better Than Dental Bridges?
Many patients and dentists will tell you that dental implants have key advantages over dental bridges or removable dentures. Both bridges and dentures only replace the part of the tooth that is visible outside of the gums. This is inherently less stable than an implant, which replaces the full structure of the lost tooth. By replacing the entirety of a lost tooth, an implant is often longer-lasting, maintains the structure of your face, and puts less stress on the surrounding teeth.
Where Can You Get Dental Implants in Massachusetts?
Many dental offices do not provide dental implants since they are a surgical procedure. Frequently, dental practices will need to refer their patients out to providers who offer surgical treatments. Here at Varinos Dental Associates, we are equipped to handle every step of the dental implant process at our offices in Peabody, Winthrop, and Newburyport. This includes the initial consultation, the surgical procedure itself, and the follow-up appointments. Our team also handles the other treatments that are sometimes necessary prior to getting an implant, like jawbone restoration.
